Starting any investigation takes preparation, so before you head out, make sure you have everything you need:
- Camera. Digital or 35mm
- A watch (or stopwatch) to record in your notebook the time of any activity
- Video camera
- Voice recorder for notes and to capture EVPs
- Flashlight (with extra batteries)
- Cell phone
- Notebook/pencil for note and to sketch a map of the area
- Compass. Handy in case you get turned around while chasing a ghost, it can also be used to record spikes in the electromagnetic fields
- First aid kit
- An adult. They may be more difficult to pack into your bag but you'll want them there as backup when you find something
Fun things to include:
- Spectre Detectors - Thin metal rods that twist in your hands when paranormal activity is near
- Pendulum - A pendant hanging from a thin cord, it's used to locate spirits as it twirls while hanging from your hand
- Motion detector - great fun to leave it on in the bathroom without telling your teammates. Not so fun when you forget and walk in there yourself. EEEEP!
